Here is a wonderful example picture of a before and after brows procedure for permanent makeup that shows just how stunning of a difference these procedures can make. This one is particarly well done. This lady had very thin eyebrows, almost to the point of having none. With the permanent makeup eyebrow procedure, the technician was able to darken and highlight the entire brow line making a pronounced and natural looking effect. The was done using a slow progression of alternating between fine liner needles and layering with flat needles. One of the methods of layering will be to reduce the tone by diluting the pigment and then going over the are in a steadily darkening tone. See how the eyes are now more noticeable due to the intense affect of the darkened brows. Bravo!
How to make permanent makeup caps or tips fit to the right depth when there are so many different permanent makeup suppliers? We would like to discuss with you a quick fix method that is simple and easy. Like most permanent makeup suppliers, we do not produce our own needles, caps and sleeves. There are many different manufacturers that produce standard size needles and accessories that may not be as standard as we all hope them to be. The needles will always fit right, where we have issues are the sleeves and caps. Since the sleeves and caps are made from a copied mold, usually by lost wax casting, the end product is rarely the exact replica of the original. The end result are sleeves and caps that are either too loose or too tight, usually too loose. We are going to address the problem of the caps fitting too loose on sleeves since is by far more common and more problematic than fitting too tight. The cap must form a tight fit on the sleeve to prevent itself from flying off. Here is a quick fix:
Take your cap and view it from the opening that slides onto the sleeve. Notice it generally forms a circle but there are points around the circle where it angles. The caps weakest point is the points where it angles. What we are going to do is use our pointer finger and our thumb to give the cap a good squeeze until the cap is flattened out.
We will need to squeeze the entire length of the cap so we compress the maximum amount of surface area so hold the cap length wise as pictured. Rotate the cap so that when you squeeze you will be bending the cap from the angles. Give the cap a firm squeeze and hold it for 5 seconds.
After compressing the cap, you will notice that the insertion end of the cap will be noticeably flattened. The cap will now insert tight onto the sleeve.
Adjust the cap as needed to provide the correct needle depth.
We now have a fitted cap that you can adjust as much as you want without worrying the cap will be too loose.

Here is an example of a permanent makeup eyeliner procedure performed by About Face. The technician is using a rotary style tattoo machine. Users may find that a rotary tattoo machine will work for micropigmentation just as well as pens. The difference is that pens are easily handled while large rotaries are bulky and cumbersome.
Permanent makeup or micropigmentation needles come in a dizzying array of types like 1R, 3R, 5F and 7F. What do these numbers and letters mean? First, lets look at a permanent makeup needle. Right away, you will see there are 3 distinct parts to it. The needle bar is the longest part, this is the thin long piece that inserts into the tip of the pen. The needle bar connects to the stopper, on some needles, the stoppers are made with rubber and on others they are metal. This is essentially the joint where the needle grouping is soldered to. The third part is the needle group, this is the most obvious part, it contains the pins that inject pigment into the skin. These three components make up one needle.
Permanent Makeup Needle Sizes and Depths
The permanent makeup needle comes in various sizes and groupings. We carry 1R, 3R, 5R, 7R, 2F, 3F, 5F and 7F. What do these numbers and letters mean? The number designates the number of pins. The letter designates the formation. R equals to round and therefore would be a round formation. A F equals to flat and therefore would be in a flat or line formation. So a 3R would be a needle with 3 pins in a round formation. A 7F would be one with 7 pins arranged in a flat formation.
Needle Bar and Stoppers
Needle bars come in 0.6, 0.8 and 1. Ours are standard size, the size that most machines use, which is 0.8. Depending on the manufacturer, stoppers may be colored, made with rubber sheaths or made with metal. Our stoppers are non-colored and our rounds are made with rubber sheaths with the exception of 1R and 7R Our flats are all made without rubber sheaths. Stoppers prevent the bar from inserting too deep into the permanent makeup machine chamber. When you insert into the chamber, use your thumb and index finger to hold the needle by the stopper, press firmly on the stopper with your fingers while pushing inwards. Push until you feel a snug grasp by the chamber, do not force any further.
What Micropigmentation Needle Group Should I Use?
Different micropigmentation needle groups are used for different kinds of jobs. There are many group styles like round, flat, magnum and curve magnums. We will cover the most commonly used ones for micropigmentation, rounds and flats. Smaller rounds are generally used for lining and fine detail work. Larger rounds are generally used for shading in larger areas. Flats are used for filling in geometric areas and shading and blending. Large number Flats like a 7F are especially good for filling in lips after using a small round to do the outline of the lips. It is best to practice on contoured practice skin with all the different formations to get a feel for how the grouping covers area and how certain pigments behave with the group type. As always, it is highly recommended that any practitioner undergo hands on training before even attempting to try their skills on another human being.
Perpetual Permanent Makeup is proud to announce that we will be shipping orders destined for the United States from our shipping office in Point Roberts, Washington. We are very excited to finally be able to utilize the United States Postal Service as our main shipping service for all US customers. Perpetual Permanent Makeup will be shipping our permanent makeup machine kits, packages for permanent makeup needles and pigments out from this location starting today. Due to this change we are able to make most deliveries arrive within 2-4 business days as opposed to our previous stated shipping time of 5-7 business days on average for most orders. All orders going within Canada will still be shipped via Canada Post Expedited for larger packages and Oversized mail for smaller packages.
For those of you that are curious, Point Roberts is a tiny little blip on the map that is located just south of Tswassen in British Columbia. It takes less than 30 minutes to drive there from our warehouse location in Richmond, British Columbia. Point Roberts has a few banks, a bunch of gas stations where Canadians like to go to get cheap gas (gas in Canada is a fair bit more expensive than in the USA), a supermarket and one post office. Its a sleepy little port town that just happened to be south of the 49th parallel and thus became US soil despite being cutoff by Canada to the continental USA. I was driving around there and discovered you can get from the far east side of town to the far west in about 10 minutes driving time. Needless to say, there are not a lot of people that live there. However, everyone that we have met so far, especially the people at the post office are extremely friendly and very helpful. We are excited about this service upgrade and we hope it will benefit all of our customers.
A permanent makeup gift certificate with a local and trusted permanent makeup technician is an ideal gift for Mothers Day gift idea. Just think about it, to you, your mother will always be the most beautiful person in the world but wouldn’t you want to make life a little bit easier for her? Micropigmentation is the perfect way to give mom some extra confidence when she wakes up. Perhaps a brow or lip procedure. Nothing too fancy for lips, perhaps just an outer lining would do. Brows are always a safe bet as female eyebrows do thin as they get older. If she is not that adventurous perhaps you can suggest a lighter color that is not that noticeable so she will always have the option of covering up with a bit of her own makeup. We would recommend staying away from going with anything very dark if its her first time. We wouldn’t want to give mom something she may regret. Make sure the Micropigmentation technician explains how the pigments will heal and that you mother fully understands this before choosing.
Our mothers raised us and nurtured us, isn’t it about time we nurtured our moms back with something that can make them happy for years to come? Every woman, be they young or mature love to care for their looks, its just a natural part of feminine behavior. Scar removal is also a popular one and may be more meaningful than any beauty change. Scars that are very visible are a constant reminder of the pain, perhaps you can convince her to finally remove that old scar and not have to ever be reminded of it again. The possibilities are limitless and the happiness this mother’s day gift idea can bring your mom may be limitless as well!
I had a visit to the ER the other day because a relative of mine is disabled and had to change her feeding tube and found their code blue phone to be quite interesting. According to the nurse, the phone with the batman symbol there in the picture, looking like its from an era of long past is the hospital emergency phone. It is a landline because it is reserved for emergency use, at which times they cannot risk the chance of having any disconnects. She further explained that when that phone rings, every staff member of the hospital emergency room had to be at full alert.
Makes perfect sense to me, considering the only times it will be in use is when there is a serious problem. It sent chills down my spine thinking about what scenarios would involve the need to use the archaic looking telephone. It did humble me to know that each time a conversation took place using that phone, it was a matter of life or death. I found the batman symbol on the phone to be very amusing. Reminiscent of the gigantic batman light they shine in the movies to call him to save the day. Despite the ominous purpose of the phone, I felt it was in good taste that one can add a certain humor to its presentation. Just goes to show, even in the worst of times, a little humor goes a long way.
Permanent cosmetics has many uses that many women are not aware of. The majority of women that undergo a permanent cosmetics procedure are looking for convenience and confidence. The comfort of knowing that your lips will look plush and pretty all day long. The feeling of not being behind a mask that you must put on and take off every day. Micropigmentation also serves the purpose of making scars and blemishes look natural and in some cases, made to disappear altogether.
Scar coverage is a popular choice for persons recovering from burns and accidents. With the proper pigments blended and a good technician, scars can be made to look as if they were never there. Blemishes due to age or illness can also be covered in a similar manner. However, it is important to note that permanent makeup can only cover, it won’t make blemishes go away.
The most common reason for people to undergo a procedure is for touching up eyeliner, brows and lips. It is not necessary to go full on and do a full lip, brow and eyes in an about to go to a glamorous party style makeup procedure. Many women will get their lips lined, which is very convenient for women who have difficulty keeping their lipstick applied evenly. With the outer lips lined already, putting on lipstick to blend in is a snap! Another popular procedure is for women who didn’t like their brows and decided to shave them altogether. With a brow procedure, a woman can choose the curvature of her brow and make it look exactly the way she always wanted.
We finally got this site up and running and we are excited! When we were making our site, we were amazed at the diversity between names for this industry. It would seem Permanent Cosmetics, Micropigmentation and permanent makeup are interchangeable for each other. Did you know Micropigmentation isn’t even considered a word in most spell checks? This is a similar scenario with the tattoo industry where many of the parts and supplies have multiple names. I believe with time, standardization will come into play and things won’t be so confusing. However, for now, this is what our industry has to work with.
It took a total of 3 long months to get this site going, there may still be some kinks in it so please bear with us for now. We are ecstatic to be able to serve this industry and we hope that you will consider us in the future for your industry needs. We will be steadily increasing our inventory diversity as time goes by. We are open to suggestions if our customers would like to email us about them at firstname.lastname@example.org. After all, who best to tell us what they want than you, the customer?
This blog will be continuously updated to talk about industry news, current events and of course product updates. As you may have noticed I enjoy talking and sometimes I talk to much! We would like to have a bit of a casual lingo go on in here as I hate the boring professional speak, we want our visitors to see us as human beings with a touch of heart. Check back soon! Ciao!
